I have found a free campsite for the night! It’s amazing here in Zion for my short time here. I’ll post more photos when I get back to decent cell service! Tomorrow is a hike of the narrows.

You did luck out! We get a few Zion travelers at our vacation rentals that can’t find camping spots. It’s tough without a reservation ages in advance. It’s one of the main clientele we try to advertise to. Have fun!

One nice thing about  Utah is that you can camp for free on nearly half of the state. Finding free camping on national park land is definitely a bonus, though.

We try and camp on Crown Land  or Public Land Use areas whenever possible. Free and away from other people is nice.

Public lands are awesome! Camp anywhere!

What town are you in? Seems funny since there was abundant space to camp, you just had to know where it was on a map since there weren't any signs and you had do some mild off reading. I'm sure there are more easily accessible ones too.

It was about 20 minutes outside the park, but yeah either way it was awesome!

Away from others was key! Both established campgrounds in the park had 100+ campsites that were all booked up. I'm sure being right there would have been nice but I'm not a fan of crowded campgrounds. I had the whole area to myself to enjoy some stars and quiet.

100% worth my time to go there and very glad lodging was free and a great place to be at. Once the moon set I had a decent view of the milky way. Zion is spectacular!

The property is here, about 30 minutes from the Zion National Park entrance : https://goo.gl/maps/QYqp9ykZuPP2

I’m not sure how much effort campers make to find a spot. Maybe by the end of the day they want cold A/C and a hot shower. I know I would!
